TinyUrlBot

TinyUrlBot is an IRC bot that looks for long http:// links and retrieves a short url from tinyurl.com.

Prereqs

• A recent version of Python
• Twisted version 1.3 (Have not tried version 2.0+)

Notes

Please note, you need to change some of the parameters to customize it for your environment:

• BOT_NAME - The bot's name
• CHANNEL - The channel to join
• MIN_LENGTH - Minimum Length for url before TinyUrlBot will generate a tinyurl
• MORE_CHANNELS - List of other channels to join as well
• PORT - The IRC server's port number, usually 6667
• SERVER - The IRC server to login to
• SPECIAL_USER - The name of the user that can issue /msg logoff and cause TinyUrlBot to logoff

Todo

• Make TinyUrlBot answer private messages
• Make TinyUrlBot more configurable at runtime
