Leston, if the 25 pin connector on your computer has the male pins, it's
a serial port.  If the 25 pin connector on your computer has the female
holes, it's a parallel port or a SCSI port.

I've not ever seen a modem that attached to the parallel port, so it's a
safe bet that your modem is a serial modem, which means you need to get
either a cable that is 25 pin female to whatever is on the back of your
modem, or an adapter that is 9 pin male to 25 pin female.
