[UCLA-LUG] copying "weird" cds

there was a thread a couple weeks ago about making isos
from cds, but that didn't answer my questions
completely. i still don't know how to copy certain
"weird" cds.
dd, xcdroast, mkisofs all work well for data cds. i
can call those up and easily make an iso of a cd.
audio cds also are easily copyable.
but there are certain cds that i can't mount (the weird
ones) that won't work with dd.
erik hovland suggested these 2 links:
ftp://ftp.fokus.gmd.de/pub/unix/scgskeleton/scgskeleton-1.0.lsm
http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/man/README/README.copy
joerg schilling (the cdrecord guy and the guy who
develops the above program) says that track at once cds
can not be read traditionally, i.e. dd. however he
also suggested in the above link that if you feel like
risking it you could make a cd directly from another
cd, assuming you have a cd reader and a writer. i
tried this:
cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,6,0 -isosize /dev/scd0
but i get an error:
Track 01: 0 of 608 MB written.cdrecord: Input/output
error. read error on input file
whatever program i use i can't read it but joerg says
that sgcskeleton can read these. unfortunately, i
can't compile this and i can't find any documentation
that helps me out. could somebody try compiling this
for me and tell me if it works and can image a cd? i
dunno what else to do to copy these weird cds, i've
looked everywhere...
thanks
