Well, there's the crude-but-effective approach:
rm -fr /mnt/backup/*
cp -ax / /mnt/backup

That's how I do it on my machine. It takes forever, but oh well. There are
all kinds of backup software packages that do it much more nicely
(differential backups, incremental backups, etc.) I think we'd want all of
/home except for perhaps ftp, since that's mostly mirrors of stuff that can
be gotten elsewhere should our harddrive crash. And then I think we should
backup all of /etc too, which is only about 1.6M. Then we'd still have over
a gig left over on the spare drive for a mirror of something. How's that
sound?
